The main objective of the Master of Meteorology from Developing Countries program is to cultivate the senior talents in both meteorological research and application; enable them to master the frontier technology and most updated development in meteorology, climate and climate changes; establish professional mode of thinking; get a firm grasp of professional technology and skills in meteorology and relevant subjects so as to improve the meteorological service level of their home country.
1. Application requirements
All applicants must meet the following requirements:
1.1Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, abide by laws and regulations of People’s Republic of China and the regulations of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, and show proper respect for Chinese customs.
1.2Applicants must be staff members from meteorological administrations, higher educational institutes, scientific or academic institutions, or non-government organizations in developing counties.
Applicants must obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or relevant majors and with good English proficiency and relevant work experience, and under the age of 45.
1.3Applicants who are not native English speakers or whose undergraduate education was not in English are required to take an appropriate English Language Proficiency Test and in general achieve a sufficient score, such as:
●new TOEFL 85 or better
●IELTS 6.0 or better
●other document which can prove the English proficiency of the applicant
1.4The candidates must be healthy and must not have any disease or situation listed below:
a)Diseases prohibited by Chinese Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Laws and Regulations
b)Other severe chronic diseases like high blood pressure, cardio-cerebrovascular disease, diabetes; psychological diseases; or other infectious diseases which may harm public health
c)In recovery period after major surgery or acute disease attacks
d)With severe physical disability
e)Pregnancy
1.5Applicants are not allowed to bring spouse or any relative and friend during the study in China;
1.6Only applicants recommended by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China will be considered and admitted.
2. Application procedures
Step 1: Fill the Application Form
Please firstly fill the “Application Form of Master of Meteorology Program, 2015 in Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology” and then print the complete form out and sign your name and the date on it.
Step 2: Sending Soft-copies of All Application Materials to Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology
Applicants are required to send the soft-copies of all application materials (listed on Item 3) by email.
Step 3: Online Application
After being surely accepted, Applicants are required to visit online application system of Chinese Scholarship Counci. Select the program named “Chinese Government Scholarship” and complete online application.
The agency name is Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology and the agency number is 10300.
3. Application documents required

4. Deadline
The deadline of submitting application materials is June 10 each year.
Admission letter and visa application form will be posted out on early July each year.
5. Enrollment
Enrollment will start on early September , the specific time will be stated in the Admission Notice. Successful applicants shall bring all original paper document to Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology for double-check.
